What Wands Remixes
Dome of Doom

Daedelus returns with company for the What Wands Remixes album, a comprehensive extension to his 23rd LP, What Wands Won't Break. The remix record features a large number of artists on the Dome of Doom roster, along with musicians connected to various worlds surrounding Daedelus. What Wands Remixes releases on Dome of Doom as a Bandcamp exclusive September 4th, with the record hitting all streaming platforms September 18th.

From a creation standpoint, Daedelus asked everyone to mold their interpretations for What Wands Remixes from the raw WAV file rather than sending stems. Through the creative limitations of this request, this challenged everyone to chop up unique sample points and rearrange the high intensity audio of the originals for their flips. With this process in motion, each of the remixes valiantly takes on personal characteristics from the artists while retaining a strong sense of the original versions. A blend between electronic and hip-hop production aesthetics that's felt across the entire LP.

Recent DOD signee QRTR handles the opening track duties with a banging house inspired flip of "Fettle," followed by DMVU's wildy dubbed and bass drenched interpretation of "Clairaudience." Boston native Rah Zen takes on a decidedly more Dilla-esque approach with his boom-bap roller "Yew and Me." U.K.'s CLYDE adds one of the most notably hardcore remixes on "Chimera," bordering on UK jungle and dubstep sound paletts. DOD label founder Wylie Cable also threw his hat into the mix with a ferocious VIP of his original Daedelus collaboration, "Glint." The album also has remix contributions from recent Alpha Pup Records signee Lapsung, Maine-based beat artist Won Pound, Virginia-based drone and drum musician Glia, a student from Daedelus' new position at Berklee college of music, Ximena Rivas, and recent Berklee graduate Ray Polk.

"Less remix and more alchemy, these producers have given us such gold. Heavy and heartfelt alike. Perfect." - Daedelus

about

Daedelus Providence, Rhode Island

Daedelus is an aspiration of music without limit. Their discography stretching back more than 20 years is fittingly erratic, and list of collaborators dizzying. Most recently releasing with Albert's Favourites, artist in residence at S.E.T.I., and founding faculty of Berklee's EDI performance program. ... more
